“Employees are the heart of our company”, knows Rolf Landry, CEO of Barbarossa Bakery. To find out what our employees think about our bakery and what could be improved in the daily routine we conducted an anonymous survey among our employees. In several workshops employees from all departments set common goals for a fair work environment. Newly defined rules guide the daily teamwork. One of the guidelines focuses on “family”.

“As a family run company, we are particularly responsible for our employees. Their happiness is very important to us”, says Kevin Landry, Rolf Landry’s son. He is responsible for the management of production. It is our goal to create a work-life-balance where family and work can be balanced. “We know that in bakeries in general it is a challenge to combine family and job because of the shift work. Yet we try to accommodate our employee’s wishes as best as possible.”

The process was accompanied by the Bertelsmann foundation who granted the company the certificate “family friendly employer”.

Rolf Landry knows that the process to a family friendly employer is not over yet. It is a constant development that will accompany us in the future. We already have a variety of working time models: from part-time to trust based working time. This provides a lot of flexibility; especially when you must consider family situations. ” We mostly work with unlimited employment contracts, trust our employees”, says Andreas Urig, responsible for human resources (development). Employees appreciate our employee card that offers discounts of up to 50% and corporate events.

“Our jobs are safe.” Rolf Landry is proud of that. He knows that job security is very important for most employees especially those with family.
